Transfers Matter

Transfer students embody, in many ways, SF State’s core values, including courage and resilience.

California's public higher education system, established in 1960 (the "Master Plan"), was designed to enable two out of three undergraduate students to begin their degree path at a community college.  More than half of all students with CSU degrees began at a California Community College.  It is typical for transfer students to spend three to five years earning credit at multiple institutions before earning a baccalaureate degree at a CSU.

Helping transfers realize the promise of our mission in a limited timeframe but equitable manner is a challenge that we can meet thoughtfully and in accordance with our commitment to social justice.
